Bronze Bushings

Problem?

During an overhaul of a boiler, the bronze bushings of a multiple agitator had to be replaced because they showed too much clearance. The bronze bushings were made in 2 parts because they could not be mounted otherwise.

Our approach?

The new bushings were pre-turned with sufficient excess material and then sawn in length. The sawn surfaces were then milled flat so that they fit nicely during assembly. The halves were then soldered together and clamped.

The bushings were then finished in combination, taking into account the necessary clearance in relation to the measured shaft diameters of the various agitators. Lubrication channels have been provided on the inside of the bushes and a feed point on the outside of the bushes so that the bushes are lubricated over the running surface of the shaft during operation.

Result?

The boilers can be used again for a long time thanks to our intervention.
